3rd Annual  Ft. Scott Pickle Ball Open Tourney

 

EVENT DATE:   September 14th

DIVISIONS:  Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles

                      Men’s 55 & over Doubles and

                      Women’s 55 & over Doubles

       

LOCATION:  Pickle Ball Courts - 910 Burke St., or BRCC (Weather Permitting)

FORMAT:  Tournament format based on registration numbers. Check-in 30 minutes prior.  You must be ready for match when it is announced.  If not at court ready to play within 10 minutes of announced match you may be asked to forfeit.  Outdoor Pickle balls will be used. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place medals in each division. T-Shirt Included

ENTRY FEE: $15 (Includes Tourney T-Shirt)

DEADLINE: Wednesday, September 11th

Payment due at registration and is non-refundable

 

Corn Hole League

 

 Registration information and rules are available at Buck Run Community Center, 735 Scott Ave.  Matches will be played on Monday evenings at the Fisher South Field. League will run thru October.

 

START DATE:                    Monday, September 16th

FEE:                               $10/team each week

LEAGUE FORMAT:  

 

2 person teams will show up each week at the Fisher South Field at 5:45 p.m., At 6 p.m., based on the number of teams present each week, a double elimination tournament will take place. 80% of the entry fees will be used for prize money. 1st place team will receive 60% of the total, 2nd place 30% and 3rd place 10%.

 

 

38th Annual Spelling Bee

 

Saturday, March 7th

 

 

This friendly competition is for 1st through 5th graders.  Preliminary rounds will take place in individual classrooms.  The top spellers in each classroom will meet for the final round at the Fort Scott High School  Auditorium.  This challenging activity is set for Saturday, March 1st, beginning at 1:30 p.m.  Call 223-0386 for additional information.

 

Holiday Crafts!

 

The Fort Scott Recreation Commission and the Fort Scott Middle School Pride  are offering the following craft programs for pre-schoolers - 5th Grade.  These programs are designed for the youth to construct basic crafts using their hands.  Each workshop will be held at the Buck Run Community Center and have various craft projects, face painting, snacks and drinks.  Please pre-register at the Buck Run Community Center to allow for adequate supplies.  A $1.00 registration fee will be charged for each participant.

Corporate Challenge

 

October 3,10,17 & 24, 2019

 

Get your co-workers together and compete against other Fort Scott Businesses or Groups.

 

The Fort Scott Recreation Commission is hosting the 2019 Corporate Challenge and would like to encourage organizations to participate.  The Challenge will be held on  Thursdays - October 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th.  The cost per team is $50.00.  All supplies are provided. Points will be awarded to the top 6 places in each event. Points will be totaled each week with the final goal of being crowned 2019 Corporate Challenge Champions!

“Christmas in the Park”

 

Gunn Park - Fort Scott

December 7, 2019

 

Bring out the whole family to Gunn Park and experience an old fashion Christmas!  Take a  ride through the park, have some hot chocolate, or decorate some cookies.  Kids can also make a craft, pet the live reindeer, visit Santa and listen to carolers.  Come out and enjoy this joyous event and get into the holiday spirit!  This event is free!!!

1st ANNUAL “Christmas AT BRCC”

 

Middle School Dance

 

Saturday, December 14th                         7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

 

The Fort Scott Recreation Commission Staff and families want to offer a Christmas Middle School Dance for all 6th - 8th Grade Students. Raffle drawings and contest will be held throughout the evening. $5.00 entry fee will get you into the dance. Concessions will be available.

 

All Proceeds from the Dance will benefit the Adopt - a - Family Program during the 2019 Holiday Season

 

Pumpkin Carving Contest & Halloween Games

 

Tuesday, October 29th (6 p.m. - 8 p.m.)

 

Get into the spirit of Halloween with this special event.  Each adult/child team will pick their very own pumpkin to carve.  Prizes will be given for the scariest, most unusual and funniest  pumpkin. Contest is set for Tuesday, October 29th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. At 8 p.m., pumpkins will be lit and displayed as the judging will begin.  Pumpkins, candles, and carving knife will be provided.  This program is for youth 3 - 12 years & adult partner.  Fee is $3.00 per team/pumpkin.

 

Along with the Pumpkin Carving, youth will be able to play various Halloween games such as treat walk, fish pond, pick a duck/frog, ring toss, etc. Bracelet to play games will cost $2. per person.

 

24th Annual Turkey Shoot

 

Sunday, November 24th

 

Shoot free-throws and win a turkey to enjoy for your Thanksgiving dinner.  Kids - grab a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian for this chance.  Each child and adult will shoot 25 free-throws each. The adult/child team scoring the highest in each age group wins a turkey!  Pre-registration is necessary.

 

AGES: K - 8th Grade & Partner

TIME: 1:00 p.m.

FEE: $2.00 per team

LOCATION: BRCC

 

Entry Fees collected will be donated to the Adopt-a-Child program to help provide a great

Christmas for the youth that may be less fortunate

 

Santa Letters

 

The Fort Scott Recreation Commission has a special mailbox that will allow letters to be sent directly to the North Pole.  Letters need to have a “Return Address” so Santa can write back.  The special mailbox is located in the lobby of BRCC.  This program is free of charge.

 

Letters will be accepted from December 1st - 18th

 

Santa Calls

 

The Fort Scott Recreation Commission has a direct line to the North Pole!  Either Mr. or Mrs. Claus will call the boys and girls of Fort Scott and talk with them about their pets, siblings, chores, wish list and if they’ve been naughty or nice.   Registration for calls may be taken over the phone beginning December 1st by calling 223-0386 or by stopping by the BRCC. 

 

Calls will be made on December 11th & 18th

Breakfast Bingo

 

Come drink some coffee and play some bingo at Buck Run.  Staff will provide the bingo cards, the caller and coffee.  Prizes provided by the Fort Scott Recreation Commission.

SHUFFLEBOARD/PING PONG

 Ask the staff at BRCC about checking out Shuffle board and/or Ping Pong Equipment. Available at the front desk at BRCC.  This can be played at no charge with a $3.00 deposit.
