NO School! No Problem! Skate Days @ BRCC
The Fort Scott Recreation Commission is offering roller skating for the youth to enjoy while they are out of school. Staff will supervise and organize the skate or activities for the youth to get exercise, socialize and have fun! Any boy or girl (ages 7 - 12 years) are invited to participate. Parents/Guardian need to be present while the kids skate. Fee is $3.00 per person! The events will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon each date. Each date will have a different theme. See below …
Oct. 21st - Halloween - Dress up in costume to win prizes while you skate!
Dec. 16th - Christmas @ BRCC - Gifts will be raffled off every 15 minutes
Feb. 20th - Winter Theme - Ugly sweater/sweatshirt contest
March 3rd - Spring is in the Air - Beach Day! Wear your favorite shades and Hawaiian Shirt!
7th Annual Ft. Scott Pickleball Open Tourney
EVENT DATE: Saturday, December 3, 2022 (1 pm - Start)
DIVISIONS: Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles
Men’s 55 & over Doubles and
Women’s 55 & over Doubles
LOCATION: Pickleball Courts - BRCC - 735 Scott Ave.
FORMAT: Tournament format based on registration numbers. Check-in 30 minutes prior. You must be ready for match when it is announced. If not at court ready to play within 10 minutes of announced match you may be asked to forfeit. Tourney Towel for each participant.
ENTRY FEE: $10 (Includes Tourney Towel)
DEADLINE: Wednesday, November 30th
Payment due at registration and is non-refundable
3rd ANNUAL “Christmas AT BRCC” Middle School Dance
Saturday, December 3rd 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
The Fort Scott Recreation Commission Staff and families want to offer a Christmas Middle School Dance for all 6th - 8th Grade Students. Raffle drawings and contest will be held throughout the evening. $5.00 entry fee will get you into the dance. Concessions will be available.
All Proceeds from the Dance will benefit the Adopt - a - Family Program during the 2022 Holiday Season
Pumpkin Carving Contest
Saturday, October 29th (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)
Get into the spirit of Halloween with this special event. Each adult/child team will pick their very own pumpkin to carve. Prizes will be given for the scariest, most unusual and funniest pumpkin. Contest is set for Saturday, October 29th from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. At 3 p.m., pumpkins will be lit and displayed as the judging will begin. Pumpkins, candles, and carving knife will be provided. This program is for youth 3 - 12 years & adult partner. Fee is $3.00 per team/pumpkin.
27th Annual Turkey Shoot
Sunday, November 20th
Shoot free-throws and win a turkey to enjoy for your Thanksgiving dinner. Kids - grab a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian for this chance. Each child and adult will shoot 25 free-throws each. The adult/child team scoring the highest in each age group wins a turkey! Pre-registration is necessary.
AGES: K - 8th Grade & Partner
TIME: 1:00 p.m.
FEE: $2.00 per team
LOCATION: BRCC
Entry Fees collected will be donated to the Adopt-a-Child program to help provide a great Christmas for the youth that may be less fortunate.
Santa Letters
The Fort Scott Recreation Commission has a special mailbox that will allow letters to be sent directly to the North Pole. Letters need to have a “Return Address” so Santa can write back. The special mailbox is located in the lobby of BRCC. This program is free of charge.
Letters will be accepted from December 1st - 16th
Santa Calls
The Fort Scott Recreation Commission has a direct line to the North Pole! Either Mr. or Mrs. Claus will call the boys and girls of Fort Scott and talk with them about their pets, siblings, chores, wish list and if they’ve been naughty or nice. Registration for calls may be taken over the phone beginning December 1st by calling 223-0386 or by stopping by the BRCC.
Calls will be made on December 7th & 14th
