 5th Annual  Ft. Scott    Pickleball Open Tourney

EVENT DATE:   Saturday, September 12, 2020

DIVISIONS:  Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles

                      Men’s 55 & over Doubles and

                      Women’s 55 & over Doubles

       

LOCATION:  Pickleball Courts - 910 Burke St., or BRCC (Weather Permitting)

FORMAT:  Tournament format based on registration numbers. Check-in 30 minutes prior.  You must be ready for match when it is announced.  If not at court ready to play within 10 minutes of announced match you may be asked to forfeit.  Outdoor Pickleballs will be used. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place medals in each division. T-Shirt Included

ENTRY FEE: $15 (Includes Tourney T-Shirt)

DEADLINE: Wednesday, September 9th

1st Annual Christmas @ BRCC

Corn Hole Tournament

 

EVENT DATE:   Saturday, December 12, 2020 beginning @ 9 a.m.

DEADLINE: Wednesday, Dec. 9th—9 p.m. 

       

LOCATION:  Buck Run Community Center—735 Scott Ave. - Fort Scott, KS.

FORMAT:  Tournament format based on registration numbers. Check-in 30 minutes prior.  You must be ready for match when it is announced. 

ENTRY FEE: $20/person ($40./Team)

Payment due at registration and is non-refundable

The Fort Scott Recreation Commission Staff want to offer this tournament to raise money to adopt kids and families this Christmas that may be less fortunate

 

$15. of each team entry fee will be used for prize money for the winning teams. 1st place will receive 60% of entry fees collected, 2nd place 30% and 3rd place 10%.

 

All boards and bags will be provided. For additional information or to donate a board & bags call 620-223-0386.

 

Fall Disc Golf Tourney

Saturday, October 24th

 

Come play in this event sponsored by the Fort Scott Recreation Commission. You don’t have to be a competitive player, all levels welcome. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with tournament play beginning at 9 a.m.  Players will be sent out in groups of 4 and play all 18 holes. Entry fee is $10 per person. $8. from each entry will be used for prize money. 1st place will receive 60% of pool, 2nd place 30% and 3rd place 10%.  The number of flights will be determined by the number of participants.

 

   Register: 8 - 9 a.m. @ Shelter # 3

   Tourney Begins: 9 a.m. sharp

“Ice Bowl”  Disc Golf Tourney

 Gunn Park - Fort Scott

 

Saturday, February 13, 2021

 

Come Play in the Gunn Park Disc Golf Ice Bowl on February 13th at Gunn Park, Fort Scott. You don’t have to be a seasoned player to participate. Registration will take place at shelter house # 3 and begin at 9 a.m. and run until 10:30 a.m. The first 25 who register will receive a free golf disc. The entry fee is $20.00 per person. A portion of your entry fee will benefit a Fort Scott Organization who help families in Fort Scott. Groups of 4 will be sent out to play the opening round of golf.  Scores from the opening round will be recorded and divided up into separate divisions based on their opening round score.  At 1:00 p.m. division play will begin.  Top finishers in each division will receive prizes. Raffle Items and additional prizes will also be available throughout the tournament. THIS EVENT CANNOT BE CANCELED BECAUSE OF WEATHER. NO WIMPS OR WHINERS ALLOWED!

 

39th Annual

Spelling Bee

 

Spring of 2021

 

 

This friendly competition is for 1st through 5th graders.  Preliminary rounds will take place in individual classrooms.  The top spellers in each classroom will meet for the final round at the Fort Scott High School  Auditorium.  This challenging activity is set for a Saturday in the Spring, beginning at 1:30 p.m.  Call 223-0386 for additional information.

 

Pumpkin Carving Contest

 

Saturday, October 31st (1 p.m. - 3 p.m.)

 

Get into the spirit of Halloween with this special event.  Each adult/child team will pick their very own pumpkin to carve.  Prizes will be given for the scariest, most unusual and funniest  pumpkin. Contest is set for Saturday, October 31st from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. At 3 p.m., pumpkins will be lit and displayed as the judging will begin.  Pumpkins, candles, and carving knife will be provided.  This program is for youth 3 - 12 years & adult partner.  Fee is $3.00 per team/pumpkin.

 

25th Annual Turkey Shoot

 

Sunday, November 22nd

 

Shoot free-throws and win a turkey to enjoy for your Thanksgiving dinner.  Kids - grab a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian for this chance.  Each child and adult will shoot 25 free-throws each. The adult/child team scoring the highest in each age group wins a turkey!  Pre-registration is necessary.

 

AGES: K - 8th Grade & Partner

TIME: 1:00 p.m.

FEE: $2.00 per team

LOCATION: BRCC

 

Entry Fees collected will be donated to the Adopt-a-Child program to help provide a great Christmas for the youth that may be less fortunate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Community Bingo

 

Come drink some coffee and play some bingo at Buck Run.  Staff will provide the bingo cards, the caller and coffee.  Prizes provided by the Fort Scott Recreation Commission.

 

Days:   2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month

Time:    9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Cost:    Free
